
Trooper John S. Kelly Fallen In The Line Of Duty
Police officer put their lives on the line every day. Unfortunately, there are times when officers make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty for the state of New York. We want to make sure those officers who have Fallen are not Forgotten.
This week we salute Trooper John S. Kelly.Trooper Kelly died at the age of 34 on December 2, 1960. Trooper Kelly died shortly after the vehicle he was operating was struck by a locomotive at an unguarded crossing in the hamlet of Felts Mills.
Trooper Kelly was assigned to SP Malone as the Supervisor of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Detail for Troop "B". He was a Navy veteran of World War ll, serving from March 7, 1944, until he was honorably discharged on May 7, 1946. He joined the State Police at Troop "B", Malone, on March 16, 1953
