Did you know Utica native Chris Brown, owner of Bull Moose Records in Maine, is credited with the idea of 'Record Store Day' that's now celebrated worldwide the third week of April?

Record Store Day is celebrated nationwide the third Saturday in April. This year the festivities are April 16, 2016. It's Christmas for vinyl lovers everywhere. Record stores all over the world hold special events and parties while showing off exclusive releases from David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, The Doors and more. Artists offer up special vinyl and CD releases to show their support or independent record stores.

The 2016 ambassador is Meticalla. They're releasing a box set containing remastered editions of their first two albums, Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning.

Off-Center Records on Bleeker St in Utica is participating in Record Store Day. We spoke with owner John Keller. He gives us some more history with an exciting Utica connection, and he tells us what we can expect from national artists.
