Record Store Day is celebrated nationwide the third Saturday in April. This year the festivities are April 16, 2016. This week's 'On The Record' takes a look at what will be available at Off-Center Records.

That's right, I said records. Many folks are still spinning these things. You remember what they are, right? Those big round disks with the hole in the middle, and you also had the smaller disks with the larger hole in the middle. Those had to spin faster to make the right sound.

The classic bands of the 70's and 80's in Central New York can still be found...on ebay. You might remember huge local bands "back in the day" like 805, Alecstar and New York Flyers.  They have had a few scattered reunion gigs.  But it's really cool when you can still find this stuff for sale, and fetching some decent prices...

With so many different ways to get your music today it's almost hard to remember that it all started with vinyl. The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Monkees. Does the mention of these musicians make you picture a large black record? A vinyl record? The vintage “vinyl” is almost as much of a classic as the bands themselves.
