You might've seen a story pop up in your newsfeed and thought it was about OUR Deerfield here in NY, but a village by the same name in ILLINOIS just banned semi-automatic weapons for it's residents. If the weapons aren't surrendered in a couple of months, each owner faces a hefty $1k fine. This did happen on American soil, so could it happen too in Deerfield, NY or just plain 'Anywhere, CNY?'

What do you think? Is this town ignoring the second amendment rights of it's citizens or is this the beginning of a movement that needs to happen to enact change nationwide? Do they even have the power to do that unilaterally or are there other channels that should be pursued before such ordinances are enacted?
