With Labor Day considered the "unofficial" end of summer, you'll probably be looking for some fun, inexpensive or even free things to do for the fall season here in Upstate and Central New York. Here are just a few ideas of where to go and what to do in our part of the Empire State during Autumn.

  • Fall Foliage viewing:  There's certainly no shortage of this in Upstate and CNY.  According to iloveny.com, the best places to see the fall colors are from the foothills of the Catskills to the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. The peak fall foliage season is from just around mid-September through late October. The best part about this is - it's free
  • Apple Picking: This is most everybody's favorite fall tradition. Central New York certainly has it's share of apple orchards.
  • Pumpkin Picking: This is another fun fall thing to do. Whether you're looking for pumpkin carving, baking or any thing else, this is something to consider doing.

Other fall activities across Upstate and CNY include hay rides, hiking, or just visiting an apple cidery such as Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard in Fly Creek or Clinton Cider Mill in Clinton.
