Dog That Was Thrown Out Of Moving SUV on I-81 Is Improving
Trooper is one of 2 beagles thrown from the back seat of a moving Dodge Durango on Interstate 81, Wednesday, December 12th. We have a video of Trooper, and he's doing better after losing a leg.
We were elated to see this video of Trooper doing so well after losing one of his legs and suffering from many other injuries after this horrific, senseless act.
The Broome County Humaine Society FB Page says:
Trooper is improving! This was from Saturday evening. He has a great spirit and is very motivated. He has a long way to go and Colonial Veterinary Hosptial is taking great care of him! Thank you for all of the kind words and support. We have received enough donations to cover our expenses thus far which is fantastic! We will continue to provide for their needs until they find their forever homes. Donations we receive in excess of their needs will be utilized to provide the care to the 1500+ animals we care for each year.
Trooper had numerous injuries including two fractured legs, broken ribs, a lung contusion and is currently at Colonial Animal Hospital in Ithaca. After X-rays and seeing an orthopedic specialist he had surgery in an attempt to keep both legs, but due to the extent of his injuries, only one could be saved.
I asked the Broome County Humaine Society how the other beagle thrown out of the vehicle is doing, and they said this: Adam is doing great! He is a very happy, friendly and loving little guy. Adam, the truck driver, is considering adoption but is mostly concerned right now about making sure they get the care they need and that they can stay together by being adopted together.
Meanwhile, the NYS Police Troop C at Homer is seeking our help in locating the people responsible for throwing the dogs out of a moving vehicle in Cortland County... The truck driver told troopers he observed a vehicle which he believes to be an older Dodge Durango slow down, roll down their rear passenger window and throw the dogs out of the window. He described the vehicle as very dirty and had rust along the hatch near the bumper area. He told troopers he immediately stopped to get the dogs to safety... The vehicle was traveling south on I-81 between the Marathon and Whitney Point exit at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, anyone with information is asked to call SP Homer at (607)749-1614.new york
