Central New Yorkers: How Do You Pronounce ‘Roof’? [POLL]
A few weeks ago, I asked Central New Yorkers how they pronounce creek. I'm back with another question--how do you pronounce roof? Is it roof with the long /oo/ sound, or is it pronounced like ruff? According to the Oxford Dictionary, both pronunciations--roof and ruff--are accepted (click the link to hear the pronunciation).
So, again, I want to do some research. I want to see which pronunciation is most common among Central New Yorkers. I'll post the results next week. Make sure to share this story on your favorite social media website--we want to get as many people to vote as possible.
Roof (like "proof") or Ruff (like "look")?
