Worth a Visit – The Oneida County Historical Society
It's been a long time since I have visited the Oneida County Historical Society. I'm talking a long time. So, I decided to stop in recently when I saw the "Museum Open" sign on the front steps of the historical society. I'm so glad I went. If you are a local history buff, I recommend stopping in--it's definitely worth a visit.
The books about local history alone are enough to make anybody interested in the history of this area say, "Wow!" I was extremely impressed with the amount of books available. The selection is amazing. My recommendation is to go the historical society with some money--I guarantee you'll walk out with a book in your hand.
An interesting exhibit that caught my eye was right near the front doors as you enter. The exhibit features a sign and microphone from our sister station WIBX 950.
The WIBX exhibit was just one of many interesting exhibits at the museum. There's just so much to see.
The Oneida County Historical Society Museum is a great place to go on a Saturday when you are looking for something to do. It's open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no admission for the museum; however, a $3.00 per person donation is suggested. It's totally worth the $3.00!
