Marty Balin is remembering his old Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship bandmate Paul Kantner as a "devil's advocate" who "has earned his wings now."
Paul Kantner, the founding member of Jefferson Airplane, has died in San Francisco at the age of 74 due to multiple organ failure and septic shock after he suffered a heart attack days earlier.
Before The Jefferson Starship or The Starship, there was The Jefferson Airplane. They had their first hit in 1967 called Somebody To Love, and made their first appearance with Johnny Carson in 1968.
