The New York Jets let Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles race out to a 24-0 lead before deciding to show up. But, the Jets' first loss hinged on two terrible plays - a boneheaded lateral-turned-fumble in the first half, and a bad penalty in the final minutes that prevented a final possession for the offense.

After it appeared the Jets had stopped Philly on a 3rd and 16, and would have a chance to mount a final dive with a minute and change to play, New York's Quinton Coples was called for an illegal hands to the face, giving the Eagles an automatic first down and sealed Philly's first win 24-17, on the road at MetLife Stadium.

The Jets fell to 2-1 on the season, but 0-10 all time against the Eagles.

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a pair of TD passes but was intercepted three times on the day. Meanwhile, Brandon Marshall had a game high 10 grabs, 109 yards and a score but a sloppy and foolish decision on a second quarter drive that lead to a Philly touchdown. After making a 15-yard catch for a first down, Marshall attempted to lateral the ball to a teammate. However, it bounced off a defender for a fumble recovered by the Eagles. Seven plays later Darren Sproles capped a 36-yard drive with a one-yard TD run making it 24-0.

Sproles also had the game's first TD, an 89-yard punt return.

While Sam Bradford got his first win with the Eagles, he by no means looked to be in charge of the offense. Bradford went 14 for 28, 118 yards a touchdown. Running back Ryan Mathews stepped into the lead role with DeMarco Murray injured, catching Bradford's lone touchdown pass and rushing for 108 yards on 25 carries.

The Jets (2-1) will play the Dolphins (1-2) in London England next Sunday at 9:30 eastern. Philly is at Washington.
