What?? Yes, you read that right. Saratoga Springs is fining people who use the city sidewalks as a seat.

On Tuesday, an ordinance was passed that would fine people sitting or laying down on the sidewalks, according to the Associated Press. People on the sidewalks will first be issued a warning however, before getting hit with a fine of at least $50.

Why would a city even want to pass something like this? Well, it's not so much of a problem with tourists taking a break or anything like that. It was passed to try and deal with some of the problems Saratoga is having with the homeless and even some panhandlers.

Some oppose the ordinance though, and think it's unfair to those who are homeless. Others believe it's looking out for visitors who come to the area and the general public's well-being. Either way, the ordinance has been passed.

If you're heading to Saratoga Springs for a little day trip, you may want to take a break by getting some food, not just plopping down on the sidewalk. If you don't, it may end up costing you.
