The National Weather Service is studying all the data they collect from yesterdays storms in CNY.

There are pictures of hail, downed trees, homes where the roof has blown away, missing road signs and plenty of funnel clouds (to the untrained eye). The National Weather Service is asking you to report all your storm damage. It's hard to fathom how these storms can rip through certain areas and not touch others.

Yesterday a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located...

Radar indicated rotation. Wind damage was reported in Syracuse. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. [NWS]

During the warning CNY residents were urged to find shelter:

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. [NWS]
