Rome Breast Cancer Committee Members Kelly Lubeck and Marissa Falitico stopped by the studio to talk about "Bands for Breast Cancer" - a fun-filled event for a great cause happening in Rome.

Many local bands have joined together for the "Bands for Breast Cancer" event happening in Rome on Saturday, April 2nd. The line-up includes:
- Last Left
- Jonathan Coleman
- Nick Bontempo
- Fulton Chain Gang
- Dubonnet
- Falling from One
- Dark Passenger
- Big Sexy from "The Voice"
- The Band W.A.N.T.E.D.
- Fight for Rome

These bands have offered up their time to perform in honor of this great cause. Not only will there be tons of bands at this event, but there will also be food trucks and a cash bar.

Last year, about 500 people attended this event (with only three bands performing). This year they are hoping for an even bigger turnout.

Money from "Bands for Breast Cancer" is going to the Avon Foundation for Breast Cancer. Every year, the Chairwoman of the Rome Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Maryann Mazzaferro (also known as the Rome Cookie Lady), takes a trip down to New York City to be a part of their breast cancer walk. The money raised helps her participate in the walk, and also allows her to donate more money to the fund.

All the money raised goes to the breast cancer fund, which comes back locally. Last year over $100,000 came back to help women in the Mohawk Valley.

Rome Breast Cancer Committee Members Kelly Lubeck and Marissa Falitico also explained how this "Bands for Breast Cancer" event first got started (which you can hear in the interview at the top of this page).

"Bands for Breast Cancer" is Saturday, April 2nd at the Rome Polish Home. Doors open at 4pm, with entertainment going until 2am. Cost is $10. You can get your tickets in advance by calling Kelly Lubeck at: 315-601 2167
