Maybe your copy of McAfee anti-virus software should've also included firewall protection from it's inventor because yes, John McAfee has apparently gone batty and allegedly offed someone and not because they're a Mac user.

Here's the official police report:

Wow! Now before you follow that little thought in your head about this being straight out of Hollywood, this story gets stranger than fiction very quickly.

McAfee has been living the last few years in Belize and keeping company with some shady characters. He resides in a house that is better described as a beachside compound complete with several levels of fencing and even armed guards with shotguns patrolling the perimeter. He claims the fencing is to keep his six aggressive dogs in to protect the neighbors as they are very loud and aggressive but what about the guards? Read on...

The man who was shot was John's neighbor and apparently they've been feuding for some time with the victim filing a formal complaint with authorities about John and his dogs recently and then all six dogs wind up dead by poisoning just this past Friday. So, our software billionaire is willing to throw away his wealth and status over a dispute involving his animals? He denies of course that he shot his neighbor nor that he thinks his neighbor euthanized his animals claiming instead that the government killed them and has been after him for months. Seems absurd, but there's more.

You remember I told you John was living in Belize? What do you think goes down in Belize besides the sun? Yeah, you guessed it, John by his own admittal has gotten involved in firearms and drugs, primarily the one we know as bath salts.

Writing under the name "stuffmonger," a handle he has used on other online message boards, McAfee posted more than 200 times over the next nine months about his ongoing quest to purify psychoactive drugs from compounds commercially available over the internet. "I'm a huge fan of MDPV," he wrote. "I think it's the finest drug ever conceived, not just for the indescribable hypersexuality, but also for the smooth euphoria and mild comedown." Elsewhere, he described his pursuit of "super perv powder" and warned about the dangers of handling the freebase version of the drug: "I had visual and auditory hallucinations and the worst paranoia of my life."

So, the government is after you John and decided to get your dogs first just to incite anger in you? That's the drugs talking buddy. A huge strike force including soldiers, police and coast guard came looking for him to take him down (for the second time this year) and what he describes about their storming of his compound and his subsequent evasion evokes all kinds of movie scenes and he is now on the run from authorities and in hiding somewhere in Belize but still talking to people and pleading his case along the way. Check out this video below about the first storming and his reaction after being released:

It's safe to say this is at 'threat-level red' and if you have the this playboy billionaire's software installed on your comp, you might wanna think twice about what this guy who's high as a kite on bath salts and hanging with drug gangs can do if he installed a workaround into his software and has access to tons of your information at the click of a mouse. Let's hope not, but either way this story is a huge reminder about the illusion of safety versus real safety and if the pioneer of security software has security issues himself, kinda makes ya pause and wonder...
