Graffiti, New Comets Logo, Or Construction Project? [PHOTOS]

Not to sound negative about our area, but when the Comets Logo was painted under the Burrstone Road bridge on the Arterial people were placing bets on how long it would last before getting "tagged".  Long time residents of the Mohawk Valley know that location has always been a prime target for graffiti.

Some markings have appeared on either side of the logo, as well as on the bridge supports on the Arterial.  Is this graffiti?  Or is something new being planned here?

We contacted Mark Caswell, Director of Communications for the Utica Comets, who said there are no plans that they are aware of to re-paint the logo.  Gene Allen, Marketing Director for the City of Utica said he inspected the site and was pretty sure the markings are measurements and other details relating to Phase 2 of the Arterial Construction Project.  Allen also said the City was aware that construction would eventually mean the removal of the mural.
