Erie Canal Opening On Schedule After All

Well, believe it or not the Erie Canal original opening for the season was scheduled for May 19th. Our very wet April appeared to delay the opening. Within the past few days the conditions have improved greatly in the Finger Lakes/Central New York region allowing the opening day to move back to the original date Friday May 19th.

Also, just when you think there are no deals for boaters, the New York State canal is free for the entire year beginning on Friday May 19th at 10am.

Due to projected high volume and roving lock personnel, some delays may be experienced Friday May 19th through Sunday May 21st.
