U.S. Olympic Team Gloves Come From Upstate NY
See those awesome fringed suede gloves all the athletes are wearing? The leather came from Upstate NY.
The 60-year-old Sunderland Leather Company in Gloversville provided the North American bison leather for the Ralph Lauren glove. The owner of the company, Matthew Smrtic, told NewYorkUpstate.com that it's a strong, rugged leather that's very durable with good insulation.
This is not the first time the Sunderland Company has worked with Ralph Lauren. They've provided the leather for the Ralph Lauren gloves for many years. This is also not the first time they've worked with the Olympics either. NewYorkUpstate.com reports that they provided leather to Roots Canada, who made the jackets for American and Canadian athletes to wear during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. in 2002.
You can buy a pair for yourself from the Ralph Lauren website for $995.00. For that price why not get a couple of pairs?
