The iconic bull has been standing on Route 31 in Verona for decades.  The large statue stood in front of Joel's Steakhouse for dozen's of years, and then after an ownership change, the bull stood guard at the Stampede Steakhouse and Saloon.

But in early 2016, a wind-driven fire completely destroyed the restaurant.  Everything was gone except for the bull, which stood unscathed.

The "Stampede" was locally-owned at the time of the fire.  He did not appear on camera, but the owner told a Time Warner/Spectrum news reporter that he wasn't sure if he would rebuild.  As of now, no plans have been announced for a new building on the property.

Some of those who did appear on the TV news report said they hoped the bull would remain in place, even though the restaurant is gone.  So far, the lonely bull is standing strong at the intersection of routes 31 and 365, just north of the Turning Stone Casino.
