If you love your four-legged pet like I love mine and want to help a great local charity and get some exercise, make plans to participate in the annual Wiggle Waggle Walk-A-Thon.

Your best four legged friends will love you for the chance to see and sniff other 4-legged friends at the Steven Swans Humane Society's Annual Wiggle Waggle Walk-A-Thon on Sunday, September 17th from 12 noon to 3pm at the Kirkland Town Park in Clinton.

My last 3 dogs all have been adopted from shelters and these shelters do amazing work to keep the dogs fed, exercised while having all their medical needs addressed. Much of how these shelters operate is off of volunteers and donations.

Each year the Wiggle Waggle Walk-A-Thon adds something new to the event and this year is no different. They have talent competition, largest and smallest dogs, costume contest and even the opportunity to have your dog’s paw print taken for a donation. There are vendors, music, adoptable dogs on site, and so much more. The ultimate goal of the Steven Swans-Humane Society is to find each and every dog a forever home.

Having adopted dogs from shelters all of my adult life, I can honestly say there is nothing more fulfilling than helping these dogs find a home and family to love. So get your best friend, or if you don’t have one, donate to a walker and help out one of my favorite local charities. If you are looking to adopt a dog, I happened to notice they have many great adoptable dogs and even have several smaller dogs up for adoption.
