Janet Jackson has announced that she will visit the shelters and meet with Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston, Texas.

The pop icon is kicking off her “State of the World Tour” in Lafayette, La., tonight (Sept. 7) but her next stop is in Houston on Saturday (Sept. 9). There had been speculation that Janet would cancel her show because of the widespread devastation in the state by Harvey. But the R&B singer says that she’s going to perform her show as scheduled. Not only that, Janet is going to visit shelters in Houston and meet the people a day prior to performance.

“Hey, you guys! I’m backstage in Louisiana and I’m at rehearsal about to kick off my tour and our next show is in Houston,” she said in the video above. “I know that there have been rumors on whether we were gonna do the show in Houston. I’m here to tell you that we are doing the show in Houston. But we’re gonna roll in early because we want to visit some of the shelters. We also want to do something special for the victims. So I will see you Friday.”

Meanwhile, Bun B's telethon, Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief, will air nationwide on Tuesday (Sept. 12). Celebrities including Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Foxx and more will appear on the telethon, which will be broadcast on all of the major TV networks at 8 p.m. ET.
