The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Binghamton says the hit or miss storms today could be severe.

NWS says a cold front will move south this afternoon across CNY and northeast Pennsylvania. This front will trigger scattered thunderstorms some of which could contain large hail and strong gusty winds this afternoon into the evening. Those planning outdoor activities should monitor the weather and be prepared to head indoors should storms threaten.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 58.
