These days, it's the most embarrassing thing in the world to be a New York Jets fan. My team has let me down so much over the year, I don't know if I can handle any more heart break. Michael Vick is speaking out in the press saying the season could have been different, if Rex pulled the trigger and put him in much sooner.

CBS Sports is reporting that when Vick was asked if he thought the team would have a few more wins if he had been the starter all season, his response was a huge yes.

"In my heart, yes," Vick said, via NJ.com. "Yeah, I mean, to sit here and say no would show a lack of confidence in myself and my teammates. But absolutely, I think if I was starting from Day 1, then maybe it would've been an opportunity. But that wasn't the case. I wasn't put in that situation. The team wasn't put in that situation."

Would the season have turned out differently? Possibly. However, Vick understands he's not the one calling the shots.

"The (Jets) coaches made the decisions, and I totally understood everything that was taking place," Vick said. "It was all about developing a young quarterback (Smith), mentoring a young quarterback and giving him every opportunity to succeed.""

What will the future of the team truly be?
