If you plan to ring in the New Year with a glass of bubbly, or two, you may want to keep these tips in mind, if you wake up New Years Day hungover.

Hair of the Dog--Even though the thought of a Bloody Mary may not appeal to you, a Virgin Mary is a much better choice the morning after.  This is my #1 go to cure.  I don't why a Bloody Mary works, but it does.

Take Pain Relievers--For women who have PMS-related pain such as cramping, backaches, or headaches, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory pain relievers can provide some relief.

Sauna--Think you can "sweat out" the alcohol and other toxins you may have consumed during a night of partying? Think again. A sauna can cause potentially dangerous blood vessel and blood flow changes in your body.

Exercise--A gentle workout could help you feel better, if you can manage it (and that's a big if). Since I don't exercise when I feel well, there's no way I'll do it when I don't.  But to each his own.

Greasy Breakfast--There's no scientific evidence a heaping helping of bacon and eggs will ease hangover anguish, even though many people swear by it.  Stick with easy-to-digest foods such as toast or cereal.  If that stays down, then move on to the greasier, tastier food.

Sleep--People sleep poorly after a night of drinking. Alcohol will put you to sleep quickly, but when it begins to wear off, the withdrawal your body feels can disrupt sleep and jolt you awake.  And you're head may be pounding so hard you can't sleep, but try.

Water and Sports Drinks--Dehydration caused by heavy drinking is what makes you feel so sick the next day. So hydrate, hyrdrate, hydrate.  But avoid soda and sugary drinks.

Coffee--If you're a regular coffee drinker, skipping java when you're hung over may or may not be a good idea. You could wind up layering a pounding caffeine-withdrawal headache on top of your hangover woes.  Try a watered down cup first.  If that goes well, try a regular cup.

Chocolate Milk - I actually heard someone say 'drink chocolate milk.' I thought they were crazy.  Milk on a queasy stomach?  But it worked for me.  If I can't make a Bloody Mary, my next go to is chocolate milk.

The best remedy is to drink in moderation, which is easier said than done, especially on New Year's Eve.  Or you could just do what Blake Shelton does and keep some 'feel good pills and a red Gatorade' beside your bed. I wish he would have been more specific on those feel good pills :)
