Two of the four occupants injured in the Amish Buggy crash are on the mend, but what about the horses?

[UPDATE -2.3.17]

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the 21-year-old who was sent to the hospital with no insurance. Menno Miller sustained a broken pelvis when the buggy hit a utility pole. Miller was supposed to get married on February 9, 2017. The GoFundMe page says the Amish have no insurance and the small group usually share the cost but this is beyond their means.

The accident in Deerfield Tuesday, January 31st could have been much worse.

Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol says the horse and buggy were traveling south on Forrest St. when the tongue connecting them became detached. The horses were spooked, and the buggy lost control and began to slide on the snow-covered roadway. The buggy went off the shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole. The horses continued down Forrest St, and onto River Rd. in the City of Utica, causing a separate motor vehicle accident.

In the photo below you can see the car that the horse hit.

Sheriff Maciol says a member of the department checked on the condition of the horses after the crash. The horse that ran into the car suffered a small cut on his chest but is expected to make a full recovery. The other horse was uninjured.
