Valentine's Day is almost here - and it can be pretty difficult to have a good time if you're a little short on cash. Here's a few things you can do to make the day amazing without it costing you a fortune.

Valentine's Day is a time to show the people in your life how much you love them, especially your significant other. If you don't have a lot of money, it can be kind of depressing. You want to do so much, but you can't afford to. Some times it's not about the money though, it's about the thought.

Stay In

Plan out a Valentine's dinner and movie night. Ask your significant other what they want for dinner, and make it for them. Maybe if they work late, have dinner all ready for them when they get home. Light some candles and watch one of your favorite movies. It doesn't even have to be a romantic movie, just something you know your other half will love.

Go Out on the Cheap

Nothing says love like having an adventure. If you only have a little bit of money to spend, you can still go out and have a good time. Have a day plan. Maybe go for a walk through the park or around town, and reminisce about when you first started dating. Share stories of why you fell in love, and why you're still in love. Then wrap up the day with a bite to eat. You can even get fast-food, or go to a fancier place and just get appetizers or something small to share. The biggest thing to make it count - Make sure it's what your significant other wants. If they love Taco Bell, then go there to wrap up the day (even if it's not your favorite).

Cook Together

Something about cooking with that special person in your life is just fun. Even if one of you is a terrible cook. Getting in the kitchen together to make that special Valentine's Day meal is a fun activity that both parties can enjoy. Pick out a recipe you both want to try out. Go out together to get everything you need, and start cooking. Make sure you set the mood as you enjoy your meal - You know, light some candles, make it romantic.

Lazy Day

With how busy life can get, some times the best thing to do is just have a day of relaxing. Since Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday this year, it's perfect for a 'staying in pajamas' type of day. Maybe just cuddle on the couch binge-watching your favorite TV shows, and order pizza for dinner. Make sure you let your significant other pick out the toppings and where you get the pizza from. It's those small gestures that will make Valentine's Day special.

To make any of these ideas complete, get a box of chocolates or a little snack you know your partner will love. It doesn't have to be some heart-shaped treats, if they love Twix bars, get them a whole collection of them. You could also offer to give a back massage or a foot massage. That doesn't cost anything and will really show your other half how much you love them.

It's the little things you can do that will make Valentine's Day really special, and money has nothing to do with it. Find out what your significant other really likes, and do those things on the cheap. No matter how much money you have (or don't have), everyone should be able to enjoy this special day of love.
