Summer time means a lot of things to a lot of different people here in the Mohawk Valley.  Cookouts, camping in the Adirondacks, swimming, etc.  For a lot of people, it's the best time to clean out their garage, basement, attic, or whatever.

If you look in the paper, craigslist, Facebook, signs on posts, you will see many garage sales going on in the area.  We just had our town-wide sale this last weekend.  I would like to say that we did very well, but I'm kind of in a bad spot with not a lot of traffic.  Most of the time, that is a good thing, but when it comes to garage sales, not so much.

People love a bargain.  I love finding something for cheap that looks brand new and cost me a fraction of the retail price.  However, I'm always careful about what I buy, and you should be too.  Don't be afraid to check out the merchandise and definitely don't be afraid to ask to see something work, especially when it comes to electronics or power tools and equipment.  If people are honest, they should have no problem demonstrating something for you.

If you don't feel like going out and around trekking for that bargain,  you can also find some great deals on several existing Facebook garage sale sites.  A couple of good ones are "315 Facebook Garage Sale" and "Utica/Rome Facebook Garage Sale"  These are closed groups, so you have to send a request to join, but the admin is pretty quick to accept.

Good luck and happy bargain hunting!
