Fire Departments In Central New York Looking For Volunteers This Weekend

Interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter? 'RecruitNY' is underway this weekend and it's a great time for you to join the firefighting team at your local firehouse.

This weekend, there will be a drive for volunteers at your fire department. Your community needs you to volunteer and help inform the community about the valuable services that are provided.

WKTV says in the last 30 years the volunteer fire service in NY has fallen to 85,000 members. A report by FASNY in 2016 found that the annual cost of a replacement all-paid fire service would be $3.87 billion, causing property taxes in New York to rise by more than 26 percent.
