The 'Feed Our Vets' organization was recently surprised with a truckload of Armour Brand's Vienna Sausages.

The donation came as a result of a nation-wide promotion done by the Armour Foods company in partnership with NASCAR. For every can of Armour brand food purchased between Feb. 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016 at participating retailers, Armour brands donated a can of Armour brand food to Feed Our Vets up to 200,000 cans.

For the local 'Feed Our Vets' organization, they received a large number of various cans of food. Rich Synek is the founder of this organization, and he says the first delivery

We are expecting another 140,000 cans of food

contained approximately 35,000 cans of Vienna Sausage, and Corned Beef Hash. That's not all. Synek says, "We are expecting another 140,000 cans of food to be donated at a later date." Of those donated, 15,000 cans were donated to other organizations.

In addition to the actual food donations, the 'Feed Our Vets' organization received exposure on Kevin Harvick's #88 Xfinity Series Race Car at multiple races including Daytona, Darlington & Talladega in 2016. That exposure would have cost the Non-profit six figures, but Armour Food brands added it out of their own Advertising budget. This year Rich expects that logo to be on the cars of other drivers during some races.

The 'Feed Our Vets' organization was born right here in Central New York. Rich and his wife are the founders of the cause, and are currently distributing in 43 states. They are constantly looking to open new pantries every year. Since 2008, Feed Our Vets has provided free food assistance to more than 20,000 Veterans and their family members, distributing 445,000 lbs. of food.

You can visit their headquarters location at 205 Genesee Street in Utica. If you would like to make a donation, or find out more about their organization you can contact Rich Synek via email at rich.synek@feedourvets.org.
