Drones Over Central New York – The Erie Canal Through Utica

The Erie Canal was first proposed in 1805. It was 20 years later that the waterway was completed. Along the heart of the canal is Utica, NY. Now a great view for area restaurants, and a great view along the New York State thruway, the canal is still flowing strong, and is used for many purposes.

Originally the canal was used to transport bulk goods. Other than pack animals, this was the quickest, and most cost-effective way to transport goods. The original canal boats were pulled on either side by horses, and the vessel would be floated right along. In the early years The Erie Canal was known as the 'Eighth Wonder of the World."
