Cuomo Won’t Go to Inauguration Because of Possible Albany Threats
Governor Andrew Cuomo has canceled plans to travel to Washington for the inauguration of Joe Biden due to potential demonstrations that may occur around the state Capitol.
Speaking to reporters Monday, Cuomo said he had intended to attend Wednesday's event but he's decided he should remain in New York state in case problems develop.
The governor said state law enforcement agencies have made preparations for possible Albany protests that may be held in connection with the presidential inauguration.
Cuomo said "my place is to stay in New York state given this possible circumstance."
The governor said he has sent his "best wishes" to Biden, who he described as "a good friend."
