First of all, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Now on to my rant.  My daughter, who is in kindergarten, brought home a Thanksgiving book from the school library. So we sat down to read it last night. It started off innocently enough, with a class of students going on a field trip to a turkey farm. And then the next thing you know, the farmer is talking about slaughtering all the turkeys for Thanksgiving. So, my "dadness" kicks in and I explain it as gently as I can so she doesn't freak out. Then we turn the page and the kids steal all the turkeys from the farm by hiding them under their coats. They go home and release all the turkeys and have a Vegan Thanksgiving dinner with their families! What? Don't get me wrong - I know everybody's got a different favorite Thanksgiving tradition. Heck, many homes in East Utica will probably be serving turkey AND lasagna today. Jumpin' Zach Flash will probably be posting here later with his favorite Vegan Thanksgiving Leftover Recipes. (I'm not picking on you Zach!) I'm ok with all that, but Vegan Thanksgiving Propaganda in the elementary school library? What's this world coming to?

I'll stick with turkey this year...
