Blue Oyster Cult Reschedule Reunion Concert

For far too many youngsters, Blue Oyster Cult are only known as the band that was parodied on 'Saturday Night Live's' famous 'More Cowbell' sketch. But that overlooks their long career as arguably heavy metal's brainiest band, with such classics as 'Don't Fear the Reaper' and 'Godzilla to their credit. Regardless, the band will perform a 40th anniversary concert at the New York's Best Buy Theater on Nov. 5.

All five original members, Eric Bloom, Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, Allen Lanier, Joe Bouchard and Albert Bouchard will celebrate their career, as well as the release of a new 17-disc box set, which was released on Oct. 30. The set compiles all 11 studio records they made for Columbia between 1972 and 1988, three live albums, two discs of rarities and a DVD of a 1978 concert.

The show was originally expected to take place on Oct. 28, but Hurricane Sandy forced the rescheduling.

Back in July, bassist Rudy Sarzo, who has played with nearly every metal act but is best known for his time with Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot and Whitesnake, left the band to concentrate on other projects. He is currently working with Geoff Tate in a new incarnation of Queensryche.
