Big Lots Opening in New Hartford

Big Lots is moving into the available space next to At Home Superstore in the former Kmart location in New Hartford.

Work is full speed ahead at the At Home Superstore opening this Spring in the old Kmart location that went out of business last year. The Observer-Dispatch is reporting the big box store Big Lots is expected to occupy the neighboring building previously occupied by Price Chopper. Town Supervisor Paul Miscione tells the OD the company had not yet started a building permit. No word on when they'll officially open.

There are more than 1400 Big Lot locations in the USA employing over 35,000 people. Locations in CNY currently include:

• 102 Utica Street, Hamilton
• 350 Leland Ave, Utica
• 2132 Glenwood Shopping Plz, Oneida
• 1146 Erie Blvd W, Rome

According to their website, Big Lots offers brand-name merchandise priced 20 to 40 percent below most discount retailers and up to 70 percent below traditional retailers.

The plaza also houses Chuck E. Cheese, Super Cuts, and Sherwin-Williams Paint.
