The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the North Country will hold a free kickoff for the annual event on Thursday, March 10th at 6 PM at the Boonville Elks Club, 13054 Route 12 in Boonville. This year’s event has a sports theme - ‘Celebrate. Remember. Score A Cure!’.

Everyone is invited to the kickoff to learn about how to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer, including how to get involved in this year’s event by volunteering, forming a team or becoming a sponsor. The program will highlight how the community has benefited from funds raised and will honor cancer survivors and caregivers.

“If you or someone you know has battled cancer and you are looking for a way to fight back by doing something to show your support for them or to do something in their memory,” explains Bob Elinskas, Senior Community Manager, Relay For Life, “Then please come out to our kickoff event and learn more about how you and your family, friends, co-workers or church members can make a difference.”

Last year, nearly 300 people participated in the Relay For Life of the North Country and raised over $60,000.

“This is our community’s opportunity to help save lives from cancer by taking our message to more people and raising more dollars to fund the fight,” said Jan Corn, Barneveld resident and a member of the event’s volunteer planning team. “Together, our efforts can make a big difference.”
