Smoke 'em if ya got 'em and it looks like New York State is closer to getting them if New York legislators do the right thing. Channel 2 On Your Side reports: That New York State Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes of Buffalo has said: "We're ready. Let's negotiate this, let's get this done."

If you are skeptical about the law getting passed, keep in mind all the revenue that has been lost in 2020. Passing this bill will ensure the potential to generate $350 million dollars in revenue. And if you know anything about government in New York State, if you can tax it, you pass it.

Money should not be an issue but guess what? It is. And the concern is pricing the product so high that it may be out of reach for consumers. But as the saying goes: "If people want something bad enough, they will find a way to pay for it."

The bill has so many tiers of taxation if you have vertigo you will start getting dizzy.

TAX TIER ONE: Taxes from wholesaler to retailer. TAX TIER TWO: Taxes from retailer to consumer.  TAX TIER THREE: Local and sales tax.

Criminal ramifications are also a concern noting that Governor Cuomo will change certain current possession laws from Misdemeanors to Class D Felony.

No matter what side of the bong you sit on. A few things ring true not only for this situation but for most. The money will always be an issue. Where there is a will there is a way. And people want the freedom to make their own decisions.
