What Happened To Tony Soprano?

All has been quiet for 7 years now.  We've moved on to other things, right?  New dramas to view and we've place 'The Sopranos in our past'....until now.  Hey Chip, thanks for reminding me that the finale for 'The Sopranos', left us, literally, in the dark.  Here is a video clip reminder of the last moment of the last episode.  I was lead to believe that the reasoning for the blackout at the end, was so the viewer could pretty much come to their own conclusion as to what happened.  So, in actuality, it doesn't really matter what did happen.  Or does it? Creator David Chase has indicated that no, in fact, Tony Soprano, did not meet his demise in the final episode.
