There's something exciting about Christmastime in New York City, and this Wednesday night the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting takes place. Over the years, my daughter has visited the Big Apple during this time, watching the huge tree being put up.

And, you can watch the event live on Wednesday night on NBC. Here's what you'll see according to nbc.com:

"NBC once again heralds the arrival of the holidays with a dazzling display of musical talent and the lighting of the world's most famous Christmas tree during the "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" telecast. The star-studded 82nd annual tree lighting extravaganza will feature musical guests performing current hits and holiday classics from Rockefeller Center in New York City."

Check out this star-studded cast at the event this year, according to an article by Lorena Blas on usatoday.com:

"Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett are among the stars lining up to help light up the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York this year.

The superstar singers are joining Today show anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales for the

Christmas in Rockefeller Center special airing Dec. 3, on NBC at 8 (live).

Also on the list of performers set to rock around the tree: Cyndi Lauper, Seth MacFarlane featuring Sara Bareilles, Idina Menzel, Pentatonix, LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood.

The highlight of the 82nd annual celebration will be the lighting of an 85-foot tall Norway Spruce from Hemlock Township, Penn. It is approximately 90 years old and weighs approximately 13 tons, according to NBC."
