The Oneida County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol and Road Patrol responded to a boat accident Saturday just before 11 a.m.

According to Sheriff Maciol, the incident occurred just off shore of Verona Beach State Park.

Deputies say, David Kopytowski of Stokesdale, North Carolina was attempting to get his boat on plane and was dealing with a scared 7-year-old child on board when he struck another boat.

That boat was being driver by Roger Jackson of Bridgeport. As a result of the impact one of Jackson's two passengers were thrown from the boat, but no injuries were reported.

Kopytowski's boat drove up and on to Jackson's causing damage to both vessels, but both were able to make it safely back to Marion Manor Marina.

Kopytowski was ticketed for Reckless Operation and No Visual Distress Signal.
