Let's go back, way back, back into time.  It can be done and with the weather  improving by the week, we have the opportunity.  The good news is you can use your own car to make the trip.  You don't need a Delorean with a flux capacitor.

We have some great places here in Central New York to experience life as it once was.  Here are some places right in the area where you can take the family and have a great experience.

Erie Canal Village.  Step into the past at this real mid-1800's farm village.  It's on New London Road in Rome.

Fort Stanwix National Monument.  The "fort that never surrendered has been recreated to it's original glory.  A great experience for you and the kids.

Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site.  One of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution was fought at this site.  It was considered a turning point in the war.

Herkimer Home State Historic Site.  The mansion was the home to one of the Revolutionary War heroes, General Nicolas Herkimer.  The site has been preserved and is much the same as it stood in the late 1700's.

The Farmer's Museum.  The 1800's village is comprised of actual buildings from that era which have been beautifully restored.  There is no place better for a look at life in New York State well over 100 years ago.

Five great day trips into the past for the family.  And they are all right here in our backyard.
