If the point of advertising is to make people aware of your product, then this ad does its job. But it comes at a cost.

TGI Friday's is hawking its $12 endless with a commercial that has some people up in arms. The ad is a parody of a popular viral video from last year in which a woman was bombarded with catcalls while walking down the street.

The twist? Rob Bliss, the man behind that controversial video supplied footage to TGI Fridays to use in its commercial.

Bliss defends the campaign, telling Time, "You do realize that people have already made dozens of parodies right? Many of them comedic in nature?”

While the restaurant's spot is a few months behind, it has caught the ire of the Twittersphere where users feel the chain is devaluing women's rights to sell food. What do you think?
