Rome Free Academy announces 'Coaches Vs Cancer' basketball event Friday, February 3rd at 5:30.

Rome Free Academy’s JV & Varsity basketball teams will be taking to the court for the February 3rd match-up with Camden looking to score, not only a home victory but also some additional support for the American Cancer Society.

It's the second Coaches Vs Cancer night, which is a national effort by high school and collegiate coaches to raise awareness and funds to further research, education, advocacy and patient service programs through the American Cancer Society. It includes a 50/50 raffle and hosted change drops at concession stands. Last year’s event raised over $500 for the American Cancer Society.

"Cancer and other illnesses affect everyone in one way or another,” explains Former RFA basketball player Tim Bennett (‘03) and one of the event co-organizers, “This event is about cancer awareness and bringing the community together."

The junior varsity boys’ game takes place at 5:30 PM with the varsity game at 7 PM on Friday, February 3rd at Strough Junior High School in Rome.
