We talk a lot about the Special Olympics in New York and all the great things that they do. Earlier this year, a New York Special Olympics coach won the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award and we couldn't be prouder.

2022 State Summer Games Coming To Ithaca New York

Now we know that the city of Ithaca will be hosting the 2022 State Summer Games on June 24th and 25th. There will be over 1,000 Special Olympic New York athletes and coaches from all over New York State.

The State Summer Games is their largest statewide competition of the year with 8 thrilling sporting events taking place. They include basketball, bowling, gymnastics, powerlifting, swimming, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Midway Lanes To Host Bowling Events At Special Olympics NY State Summer Games

For those of you that live in the Southern Tier, you'll be happy to know that Midway Lanes in Vestal is hosting the bowling events These athletes will be doing their part to make this a fantastic event for everyone and they hope that you'll do your part too.

Special Olympics New York needs 800 volunteers to help support the Games. All volunteers must be vaccinated and you have to register in advance. No sports experience is necessary, just a desire to help out.

Jobs include set up, parking assistance, meal distribution, coordinating awards, athlete escorts, photography, timers, scorekeepers, and more.  If you would like to support the Games but can't volunteer your time, you can help them in a monetary way too.
