‘SNL’ Season 43 Adds Three New Cast Members, Seven (!) New Writers
We knew changes were coming to SNL Season 43 after the departures of Vanessa Bayer, Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata, but these additions are real buzzer-beaters. Ahead of Saturday’s premiere, SNL welcomes Heidi Gardner, Luke Null and Chris Redd to the series, with more than double as many writers.
Per Deadline, Popstar alum Redd, SuperMansion voice Gardner and iO Chicago alum Null will join the Season 43 cast as featured players, as was apparently finalized over Emmy weekend. You can see all three below, outlined from left to right:
Perhaps more surprising is that the Season 43 writers room will have seven new faces, described below:
Sam Jay (one of Comedy Central’s Comics To Watch), Gary Richardson (Spider-Man Homecoming), Erik Marino, (The Hughleys) Andrew Dismukes (performed at FunFunFun Fest, SXSW, The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, and The Moontower Comedy Festival), Steven Castillo (performed at Riot L.A.), Claire Friedman (The Harvard Lampoon) and Nimesh Patel (writer for the 88th Academy Awards)
This coming weekend will tell if Redd, Gardner or Null make notable appearances in the Season 43 premiere with Ryan Gosling, or more likely subsequent weeks with Gal Gadot and Kumal Nanjiani. Stay tuned for the first SNL Season 43 promos in the meantime.
