One of our locals is living the dream. Rich Talarico is again among the nominees for The Emmy Awards. One for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series: “Key & Peele” and one for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special:  “Key & Peele Superbowl Special.”

Rich Talarico is an Emmy nominatedAmerican Comedy Award Nominated, WGA Nominated and Peabody Award winning writer and producer best known for his work on  Comedy Central’s hit sketch show “Key & Peele.

Previously, Rich has written/produced FOX’s “Mad TV,” NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” NBC’s “The Tonight Show w. Jay Leno”,  “Frank TV for TBS, “The Sketch Pad” for HBO and co-produced The Naked Trucker and T-Bones Show for Comedy Central. Rich also served as director and co-writer of “CC SOCIAL SCENE” a sketch/improv series for Comedy Central Digital hosted by Paul Scheer.

When Rich and I chatted on the phone he said he had great influence from his art teacher Joe Talerico, and English teacher Kathy Sarafin who did the musicals at Frankfort High School. He is currently working on a project in NYC so he likes to come back when he can to see his mother Vicky Talarico , his sister Gina Janis, and his 3 nephews Chris, Ryan and Max Janis.

Here's a commercial Rich starred in that probably looks familiar to you.

Be careful there may be some NSFW language.

Starting July 30th, you can see Rich’s writing work (and a glimpse of acting) on Season 2 of Andy Daly’s superb “Review” also on Comedy Central.

Key & Peele is described on the Comedy Central website as “a show that examines life in a distinctively provocative and irreverent way. Whether it’s anger-translating the president, spoofing Nazis or ordering up some soul food, Key & Peele showcases the guys’ camaraderie and unique point of view, born from their experiences growing up biracial in a not-quite-post-racial world.”

The 67th Emmy Awards will be presented live at 8 p.m. on Sept 20 on Fox.
