The Red Cross is starting a new program called 'Sound The Alarm' where free smoke detectors will be installed in high-risk neighborhoods.

The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, and by educating people about home fire safety. From April 28th through May 13th, the Red Cross will Sound the Alarm in more than 100 cities and towns nationwide to help save lives from home fires.

As the Red Cross is offering a series of home fire safety and smoke alarm installation events and there are several ways for you to help and participate.

  • Volunteers are needed to install free smoke alarms and teach about fire safety in high-risk neighborhoods.
  • You can start a fundraiser to help fund the 'Sound the Alarm' campaign.
  • Make a monetary donation to the smoke alarm program.

Since 2014, the Red Cross, in partnership with fire departments and other local groups, has visited homes installing free smoke alarms, replacing batteries in existing alarms and providing fire prevention and safety education to prevent needless tragedies. Join us today in helping to save lives.
