A Western New York ice cream shop has stepped up to help shelter pups find their forever homes this summer.

De Dee's Dairy in Niagara Falls is teaming up with the Niagara County SPCA, with special pup cups for sale. Each pup cup (a vanilla custard with a dog bone) comes with a laminated photo of an adoptable dog at the SPCA in hopes that this will encourage customers to go visit (and bring home) the dog in their photo. This way, you can enjoy a treat with your pup and help out New York dogs in need.

De Dee's is also donating $1 to the SPCA for each pup cup sold.

Earlier this year, an Amherst business owner started doing something similar to help the Niagara County SPCA. Mary Alloy of Just Pizza & Wings Co. began putting photos of adoptable dogs on her pizza boxes, and not only did more people buy pizza just to get photos of the cute pups, but they also turned up at the shelter to adopt the dogs they'd seen on their boxes.

Western New York businesses are truly paving the way and using new tactics to help out pups who deserve to find their forever homes. Who knows - maybe we'll start to see similar campaigns popping up across New York soon!
