Popular Saranac Thursday Utica Summertime Event Postponed Until July
There will be no Saranac Thursday this year until at least mid July according to the Saranac Facebook page. The COVID-19 Pandemic cancelled the 2020 season and this year, COVID-19 still has an impact on the Varick Street summertime tradition in Utica, but in a different way this year.
A post on the Saranac Facebook Page says in the interest of helping our partners in the bar and restaurant community and to be COVID cautious, Saranac Thursdays and concerts will be postponed until mid July and potentially longer.
They continue saying that this postponement, will give local restaurants and bars an opportunity to maximize on the social interaction demand and allow the local eateries and bars to be able to earn back lost revenue brought on by the pandemic.
The Facebook post ends, “we look forward to having a beer with you in the near future and thank you for your support.”
This announcement follows the recent update from Gov. Cuomo regarding New Yorker's who are fully vaccinated, to be able to unmask in public places with a exemption of healthcare facilities and nursing homes. To be fully vaccinated, you must have received either the both doses of the Pfizer or the Moderna Vaccines and two weeks have passed, or have received the single dose of the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine and two weeks have passed.
