If you're having trouble finding a job in Central New York, it might not be you.

It's not easy to find a job in Central New York - especially in Utica. A new set of data analyzed by Moody's Analytics and published by the Wall Street Journal paints a pretty grim picture of the job market in Upstate New York.

The analysis looked at metro areas with populations over and under 1 million people. Out of 324 metro area with less than 1 million people, Utica ranked 312. Even Binghamton and Watertown fared better, coming in at 295 and 299, respectively. Syracuse was 296.

For big cities, Upstate New York has the distinction of having the two worst large metros, too: Buffalo and Rochester were the worst in the country.

New York Upstate reports that a regional economist says it all comes down to one factor: population shrinkage. People leaving make it harder to attract businesses, making the job market tougher, which, in turn, makes it harder to get people to move to the area.

So, where's the best place to move to get a job?

Austin, Texas. (Of course, you'll have to deal with their much higher cost of living.) If you'd prefer a smaller town, try Texas again - this time, Midland.
