New York State Trooper Shot and Killed Responding to Domestic Dispute
The New York State Police and law enforcement agencies everywhere are mourning the loss of a Trooper who was killed while responding to the scene of a domestic dispute.
Just after 8:00 p.m. on Sunday Trooper Joel Davis responded to a shots fired call on County Route 46 in the Town of Theresa. Upon arrival at the scene Davis approached the residence and was allegedly shot once by 32-year-old Justin Walters. He was killed instantly.
Walters is an active duty Army infantryman station at Fort Drum. When other Troopers arrived on scene Walters surrendered without incident. Another victim was found deceased at the scene. Walter's wife 27-year-old Nicole Walters was also shot and killed.
Trooper Joel Davis first joined the New York State Police in May 2013. He his survived by his wife and three children. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
