Canal Days have been cancelled in Little Falls due to COVID-19.

Public health concerns with COVID-19 had led to another cancellation of a central New York summer event. The 33rd Annual Little Falls Canal Celebration will not happen this year, but they are already working toward next year's event on August 9-15, 2021.

Due to public health concerns and closures relating to the COVID-19 global pandemic, this year's 33rd Annual Little Falls Canal Celebration scheduled for August 10-16,2020 has been canceled. We look forward to resuming the activities on August 9-15, 2021. For more information please contact Tony DeLuca at 315.823.1740.

The Annual Canal Celebration embodies the community's spirit and heritage that makes Little Falls a unique place in the Mohawk Valley. The Canal Celebration brings thousands of visitors to Little Falls to enjoy dozens of family-oriented events, live music, homemade food, and more held throughout the week. Hundreds of local volunteers, local businesses, non-profits, and the City of Little Falls make Canal Celebration possible.

Little Falls is a "City Born of the Water."  History states the rugged gorge was carved nearly 13,000 years ago by an enormous waterfall draining the Glacial Lake Iroquois at the end of the last ice age.

During this time of social distancing, why not take a drive to Little Falls and stroll through town? There are about 350 unique and significant buildings that reflect life on the Erie Canal from the mid-19th century through the early-20th century. You can also explore the ruins of the oldest existing lock in the United States (1795), as well as the tallest operating lock on the modern NYS Canal System (Lock 17).
